Via Ferrata

Location: Dezna - Munții Codru-Moma
Directions
Description
Via Ferrata (translated from Italian as "Iron Path") is a mountain route equipped with cables, ladders, bridges, steps, and metal rungs. These types of routes allow tourists who are less experienced in climbing to navigate exposed trails, vertical walls, and safely reach mountain peaks.👉 From a historical perspective, the first Via Ferrata routes were constructed during World War I in the Alps (Northern Italy, on the border with Austria), when soldiers installed anchors and metal cables to make the passages accessible. The Italian name has remained ever since (Via Ferrata = iron path), and since the 1960s, these routes have been commercially developed for tourism, especially those in the Dolomite Mountains.
